Hello!
I'm an ELA teacher at Hammond Middle School, where every day I get to work with curious, energetic, entertaining 8th graders. I've taught middle school for 15 years, and I feel very fortunate to have a job that I love. I have a Masters of Education degree from the University of Maryland, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from James Madison University. I am currently working on earning a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Arts Integration from Towson University. I am passionate about learning, and I hope to instill my love of literature and writing in all students I teach.
I'm also a mom to two wonderful teenagers (ages 19 and 17) who keep me on my toes. However, my greatest joy in life is seeing them learn, grow, and thrive as they figure out their place in the world.
My husband, Mike, and I love to travel, read, spend time outdoors, and eat great food. I love to spend time near the water, and we have plans to be the owners of two kayaks this summer. When I have down time, I love to plan trips. Currently under consideration: a summer excursion to Colorado.
Perhaps you noticed the sleepy dog in the corner of my picture? That's Lucy -- she is much loved and very spoiled. She's also an important part of my stress management plan, as she makes sure I get daily long walks.
